Current Positions:

1) Social Worker for the Independent Living Program

Location: Main Campus – Decatur, Georgia

Description:

The social worker is responsible for the implementation of an overall plan of treatment for each resident (ages 17-21) on their caseload. The social worker works in partnership with the lead Community Integration Counselor in ensuring that cottage staff provide a therapeutic environment that is conducive to positive change. The social worker is responsible for the case management of the residents on their caseload and works directly with parents, guardians, and DFCS caseworkers as an advocate for their clients’ needs. The social worker work in conjunction with the Coordinator of Educational Services in meeting educational needs of each resident. He/she demonstrates an ability to build a positive relationship with peers, youth and team members. He/she maintains opens lines of communication between all members of the multidisciplinary team as it concerns residents on the assigned caseload.

Qualifications:

A. Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling or related field from an accredited college or university, plus one year of experience in the human services or mental health field.

B. Knowledge of child and adolescent development and an understanding of working with an older adolescent population and the therapeutic process.

C. Knowledge of team development and the team process.

D. Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to use an agency-owned vehicle for the transportation of residents. If license was issued out of state, it must be converted to a State of Georgia license within thirty (30) days of employment.
